Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 21, 2026

ShelfIQ ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have over it.

1. Information We Collect

When you create a ShelfIQ account, we collect your email address and any optional profile information you provide (name, health goals, dietary restrictions). When you scan products, we log the barcodes scanned and timestamps to build your personal history and generate insights. We do not sell this data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to: (a) provide the core scanning and history features; (b) generate personalised AI health scores and weekly insights; (c) send optional push notifications about product recalls and insights; (d) improve the accuracy of our product database through anonymised aggregation.

3. Health Information

Any health profile information you enter — including dietary restrictions, allergies, medical conditions, and medications — is stored securely and used only to personalise your experience. This information is never shared with third parties, used for advertising, or disclosed to employers, insurers, or healthcare providers.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on servers provided by Supabase (PostgreSQL), hosted in the EU. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Authentication tokens are short-lived and refreshed automatically. We use row-level security in our database so your data is accessible only to you.

5. Third-Party Services

ShelfIQ queries the following external services to provide product information: Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org), Open Beauty Facts (openbeautyfacts.org), USDA FoodData Central, FDA recall database, and GS1 Digital Link. These queries include only the product barcode — no personal information is shared. Analytics data, if enabled, is processed by anonymised aggregation only.

6. Your Rights

Under GDPR and applicable data protection law, you have the right to: access your personal data; correct inaccurate data; delete your account and all associated data; export your data in a machine-readable format; withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact support@11techweave.com or use the "Delete Account" option in Settings → Profile.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Scan history is retained for 12 months by default, after which it is automatically deleted. You may delete individual scans or your entire history at any time from the History tab. Upon account deletion, all personal data is removed within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

ShelfIQ is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at support@11techweave.com.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notification at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of ShelfIQ after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Contact

For any privacy-related questions, requests, or complaints, contact us at: support@11techweave.com. We will respond within 72 hours.
